History

The resident’s idea for the Ecomuseum of Chorotegan Ceramics began in 1992 with the objective to rescue and perpetuate the art and culture of our Chorotegan ancestors.

The construction of the building was initiated in the year 2003 thanks for the economic and manual contribution of different institutions both national and international. 

The inauguration of the first part of the museum took place May 26th 2006 with a temporary exhibition of artisans’ pictures, a permanent exhibition of pre-Colombian replicas and modern ceramics produced by our expert artisans, and finally a Chorotegan vegetable, fruit, y herb garden.  Furthermore a talk was given to visitors on the history as well as a demonstration of the production process.
Moreover, visitors can admire the process of making ceramics and learn more about the history of the community.
